Higher Steaks was founded with the aim of drastically reducing the health and environmental impact of the current meat industry without the consumer making any sacrifices on taste. Founded in 2017 by co-Founder & CEO Benjamina Bollag, Higher Steaks’ mission is to reimagine a world where meat does not contain antibiotics, meat production is environmentally sustainable, and access to meat does not require slaughter.

Through state-of-the-art cell culture techniques to produce meat of the highest quality, Higher Steaks believe cultivated meat, along with the whole cellular agriculture industry, is one of the most important movements of our century. Together with some of the most brilliant minds on the planet (18 PhDs and counting!), they are creating the future of food and building the technologies that will impact billions of lives.

The opportunity is enormous: the global meat market is estimated to be worth c.$1 trillion with the alternative meat market – which currently consists of plant-based/fungi/fermentation/insects – worth c.$50 bn globally. Higher Steaks is perfectly positioned to enlarge the latter market as well as take a chunk of the conventional meat market.

Higher Steaks has the ambitious goal of taking 5% of the global pork market by 2035 (c.$18B), and to date, we have raised series A funding in 2021 from Top Tier investors and are looking to go into series B fundraising in 2024.
